With increasing high-speed railway lines worldwide, the train-track interaction is becoming a focus of great interest. The rail vehicle manufacturers and suppliers as well as academicians have made considerable efforts to make the railway vehicles safer, eco-friendly and more comfortable. For this purpose, thelatest theoretical and technological achievements in railway train-track interactionsand new numerical tools and methods have been developed to reach the speed and cost constraints.Various track patterns and combinations of wheel profile wear usually result in undesirable and potentially damaging dynamic behavior in the train-track system.Decision making associated with the wheel and track condition monitoring benefit from improved operational safety, system resiliency and condition-based maintenancewhile identified knowledge of the wheel-rail interaction may provide remedial action for safe operations over a track or a combination of track conditions.
The aim of this special session is to provide an opportunity among researchers, engineers, and practitioners to discuss numerical and experimental methods related to the train-track coupled systems and extensively consider the dynamic interaction that will provide predictive analysis for the integrated vehicle dynamics. It is also expected to exchange ideas and inform potential applications of new tools and methods dedicatedto development, validation, integration and monitoring of the diagnosis in mechanical components, sensors and actuators.Topics include, but are not limited to:
